When Will Spider-Man 2 Come to PC? 2024 Release Date

The long-awaited sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man made its debut on the PS5 this year leaving gamers in complete awe-struck with its striking visuals and new ways to swing around New York City. However, for now, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 remains a royalty to only PS5 owners and PC gamers can only wait before being able to experience the spider duo in action.

While this can be a bummer, the recent history of PS4 and PS5 exclusives ultimately releasing on PC makes it logical to expect the crossover to happen sooner or later. With that in mind, let’s take an in-depth look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC release date.

Will Spider-Man 2 Release on PC?

As of writing this, there hasn’t been an official announcement from Insomniac Games about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to PC. However, due to the recent Insomniac Games data breach, we might be closer to getting a Marvel’s Spiderman 2 PC port than we think.

According to the leaked documents which contained a breakdown of Insomniac’s budgets for all PC ports they will be releasing, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have an estimated cost of $4.6 million which in comparison is double the cost ($2.3 million) of the first game.

Apart from the information provided in the data breach, Sony has already released 18 of its exclusives for PC gamers with the most recent one being Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. Based on this recent pattern and the data breach, we can pin our calendars with a potential release date for the recent addition to the Spider-Man universe.

When Will Spider-Man 2 Release on PC — Expected Date

While there aren’t any official release dates for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC port, the leaked documents did give us a time frame to look forward to. The next sequel will complete development by FY 2024, and we can expect to launch sometime between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

The two-year-plus timeline is mainly based on how long it took for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart to come to PC. Miles Morales released on PlayStation in November 2020 and on PC in November 2022. Rift Apart launched on PS5 in June 2021 and came to PC in July 2023.

Although all of this sounds promising, it’s important that we wait for something authentic before raising the bar too high with what we currently have.

Expected System Requirements for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC

If and when Spider-Man 2 makes its way to PC, it will be interesting to see the system requirements it brings in for PC gamers. This is because the game’s utilization of the PS5’s SSD not only ensures extremely optimized loading times but also allows for seamless transitions between the dual protagonists Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

In addition to this, the system specifications for Spider-Man and Miles Morales also help us figure out the potential demands of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC. The previous games’ PC ports required the need for an SSD and GTX 1060 for 60FPS at 1080p. On top of that, pushing the game up to 60fps at 4K demanded more power, such as an RTX 3080 and i7-12700K or equivalent.

Expect system requirements to close to this with a focus on having a fast NVMe SSD and increased CPU horsepower to keep up with said SSD. We didn’t see a graphical leap with Spider-Man 2 on PS5, so the GPU requirements would likely be the same for the most part.

PC Ports Have Become Something of a Standard

Having to wait around 2 years can seem like a lot of time, but the expected turnaround for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is much shorter as compared to the recent previous ports we have received. In fact, the first Spider-Man game didn’t come to PC until almost four years after it first debuted on PS4.

While Sony has shown quite good PC support with its games, they still don’t have as much invested in PC as other companies like Microsoft have. This means that releasing PS5 exclusives on PC isn’t their biggest priority as they still need people to buy their latest consoles along with the PS5 Pro through big hits like Spider-Man 2.

So, for anyone who immediately wants to swing around New York will either have to play the waiting game or revisit prequels as the PC release might be in plans, but it is unlikely to be released in the next few months.
