Your Phone app is used by billions of people to link their Android smartphones to Windows devices. Microsoft recently rolled out a couple of useful features for Windows 10 users and the ability to make phone calls is one of them.
The call feature allows you to make phone calls directly from your PC. It means that you don’t need to pick up your phone every time you need to talk to your friends and family.
Despite the usefulness of this feature, some people are annoyed by some bugs that restrict them from making phone calls. Apparently, some users are experiencing another problem, here is how a Redditor described the matter:
“Microsoft’s Your Phone app lowers the volume of every single application when I make or receive a call no matter what, and the applications will remain low volume until restarted. Any way to fix this? It’s incredibly disruptive.”
It seems like the bug isn’t new and it is irritating users for quite a long time. In the Reddit post, one user claimed that this problem isn’t specific to Your Phone app:
“this has an effect on my TeamSpeak communication too; everyone is complaining that they barely can hear me unless they boost my volume on their side…”
What Can I Do If Your Phone App Automatically Reduces Volume For Other Applications On Windows 10?
For now, there is no confirmed solution to this problem, but there is a possible workaround. Some users claimed in the comments section that disabling the Exclusive Mode checkbox fixed it for them.
If you don’t know how to access the checkbox, follow the steps mentioned below:
- Navigate to the system tray and right-click on the speaker icon.
- Select your Playback device and click the Properties button.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab and uncheck the option Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.
At the time of writing this article, Microsoft neither has released a statement on this issue or provided a solution to fix it. If you are on the same boat, the only solution you have is to wait until Microsoft finds a way to resolve this bug.
