  1. Launch the Rocket League game.
  2. Open Settings, then go to Audio from the top.
  3. Here make sure the Voice Chat Volume is above 50% and also above all other volumes such as Master Volume, Gameplay, etc.
  4. Once done, go to Chat and select Allow Voce Chat with Everyone from the Voice Chat menu under Voice Chat Settings.
  5. Then, select Team if you play solo otherwise, select Party from the Preferred Voice Channel menu.
  6. Finally, make sure that Open Mic is selected from the Voice Chat Method.
  7. Check if your voice chat starts working. If not, try other solutions.

2. Re-Enable Voice Chat

Your voice chat can also stop working due to a glitch or bug in the game. You can try restarting the game to eliminate the bug. If that does not work, try disabling and enabling the voice chat, which will fix this issue if it is a bug. To do so, follow the steps.

  1. Open Rocket League and go to Settings.
  2. Navigate to Chat.

3. Disable Other Microphones from Device Manager

If you have multiple microphone devices, like if you have a controller that has a built-in microphone but does not work and you also have a headset with a microphone. In this case, Rocket League can use your controller’s microphone rather than your headset mic, which can result in this issue.

So to prevent this, we recommend you disable all microphone devices apart from your actual microphone. To do so, follow the instructions.

  1. Right-click the Start Menu and select Device Manager to open it.
  2. Once it is opened, expand the Audio Inputs and Outputs menu, and right-click the other microphone device.
  3. Select Disable device and click Yes to avoid the warning.
  4. Once done, now check if Voice Chat is fixed or not.

4. Make sure the Rocket League has Microphone access

There is a Privacy Settings in Windows that manages different permissions for the applications such as location, camera, microphone, etc. It is possible that Rocket League does not have microphone permission, which is why Rocket League cannot hear your microphone in the game. To fix this, give microphone access to Rocket League by using the following instructions.

  1. Click the Start Menu and type Privacy Settings.
  2. Go one step back by clicking Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to the App permissions and go to Microphone settings.
  4. Enable the Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone options.

  6. Once done, launch the Rocket League and check if Voice starts working again.

5. Check the input device settings

If the voice chat is still not working, you may have an incorrect input device selected from your Windows audio settings. Hence, ensure you have the correct input device selected by using the following steps:

  1. Right-click on your speaker icon and select Sound Settings to open it.
  2. Here under Input, make sure the correct microphone device is selected.
  3. Once done, launch Rocket League to see the result.

6. Test Your Microphone from Windows settings

Since the issue is still not fixed, it is possible that your microphone has stopped working for some reason, such as corrupted drivers. We will need to confirm whether your microphone is working or not. For that, follow the instructions.

If your microphone does not work after testing using the following instructions, it means it is either a driver issue or your microphone has hardware damage. You can also test it on this website to confirm. You can visit our detailed article on Microphone not working on Windows to learn more.

However, if it is working, you may have a third-party application installed that has taken control of your microphone, preventing Rocket League from accessing it. You can jump into the 8th method to counter this problem.

  2. Once it is opened, scroll down to the bottom and click More sound settings.

  4. Then, go to Listen and tick Listen to this device.
  5. Click Apply to listen to your microphone.

You can simply disable all the background applications to determine which application is interfering and causing this issue.

  1. Right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager to open it.
  2. Now right-click background applications, especially communication apps, one by one and click End Task.
