A few hours ago, Ubisoft decided to publish a list of its games that will supposedly not work on the PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility. The list included nine games, including some Assassins Creed and PS VR titles. The important thing to note here was the fact that none of the games that Ubisoft included were present in the list that Sony itself published a few days ago. The list was removed from the site only minutes after being published.
TheVerge reached out to Ubisoft’s spokesperson via email regarding the list. He replied, “We have pulled the Ubisoft Connect article and forum post regarding backwards compatibility for the time being as there may be inaccuracies involving the Ubisoft titles that will be playable on PS5“.
The list included 4 Assassins Creed games: AC Syndicate and AC Chronicles trilogy, Werewolves Within, Risk, and two PS VR titles, Star Trek: Badge Crew and Space Junkies. All of the titles mentioned above, with the exception of PS VR titles, are playable on Xbox Series X via Backwards Compatibility.
Star Tek: Badge Crew and Space Junkies are probably the most shocking inclusions in the list as these are primarily made for the PlayStation VR. Sony has already announced that the PS VR is compatible with the PS5 via a special adapter that Sony will deliver for free to anyone who manages to present a receipt of a PS VR.
Lastly, it seems Sony had something to do with the removal of the list as people expect franchises like Assassins Creed and titles made specifically for Sony to work on their updated console. It is expected that an updated list will be released shortly.
