Remedy‘s highly anticipated and long awaited Alan Wake 2 is set to launch tomorrow, October 27. With fans having waited over a decade for a sequel to the original title, the critical reaction to the game has begun to surface, and the early reviews are showering the game with praise.

IGN gave Alan Wake 2 a glowing review, scoring it at 9/10. Tristan Ogilvie from IGN declared that the sequel is a “superb survival horror” that surpasses its cult-classic predecessor, making the original game seem like “little more than a rough first draft by comparison.”

GamesHub rated the game a perfect 5/5 and described it as “mad in its approach,” with a gripping storyline filled with fascinating and horrifying elements. Leah J. Williams praised the game for its clever storytelling and the way it lodges itself inside players’ heads.

VGC, another highly regarded gaming outlet, also gave Alan Wake 2 a perfect score of 5/5, labeling it as “massively confident” and “groundbreaking.” Jordan Middler from VGC noted that while the shooting aspect may not be stellar, the game shines in its horror thriller narrative.

The Guardian, with a rating of 4/5, called the game a “thoroughly entertaining blend of detective procedural and narrative weirdness,” while GamesRadar, also rating it 5/5, commented on the unique pacing of the game, highlighting that it offers an adventure “quite unlike any other.”
