OnePlus CEO Pete Lau today posted the first teaser for the company’s next flagship smartphone on his Twitter page. The post claims the next product from OnePlus “will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth.” He also mentions that the device is “just beautiful”.
The teaser video only shows a silhouette of a smartphone, although we cannot be sure if it is the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7 Pro. As suggested by 5K renders of the standard OnePlus 7 leaked online yesterday, it will not look very different from the OnePlus 6T in terms of design. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro model will have a different design with a pop-up camera module.
According to a new leak, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be a major upgrade over the OnePlus 6T in the display department. It is said to feature a Super AMOLED display featuring Quad HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. If the information is accurate, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be the company’s very first smartphone to feature a higher display resolution than Full HD+.
Apart from a higher display resolution and refresh rate, the OnePlus 7 Pro will reportedly pack an impressive 4000mAh capacity battery with 30W Warp Charge support. The latest leak claims the smartphone will also have USB 3.1 connectivity, stereo speakers, and a triple-camera setup at the rear. In addition to the primary sensor, the OnePlus 7 Pro will have a telephoto as well as a wide-angle lens.
Even though specific details are not available right now, it is possible that the OnePlus 7 Pro will use a custom display controller to adjust the refresh rate. The same approach is used by Razer on its gaming smartphones. While OnePlus is yet to officially confirm a launch date, rumors suggest the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will be unveiled on May 14.
