NVIDIA has launched a much-needed plugin that offers ambient sound suppression or noise cancellation. The NVIDIA RTX Voice App reportedly utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to remove distracting background noise from digital broadcasts, voice chats, and remote video conferencing meetings. The app is meant only for computers and is not available for smartphones.
The NVIDIA RTX Voice App has been launched by the graphics card maker. The application is meant primarily for professionals working from home. NVIDIA assures that the RTX Voice App will be immensely helpful to people who might not have the best microphones or audio equipment that have the ability to suppress ambient sounds. The app should allow the creation of a quiet environment that is necessary for better audio transmission.
NVIDIA RTX Voice App Is A Free Plugin To Eliminate Distracting Background Noises But Requires Special Hardware?
One of the biggest and increasing concerns during the present situation, wherein professionals are working from home, is the unavailability of good audio equipment. Poor microphones are responsible for picking up and transmitting a lot of background noises that make it difficult to understand speech. To assist professionals and help clean the audio of background noises, NVIDIA has launched the RTX Voice App. The app is free to download. It is still in the beta stage, but NVIDIA assures the app uses advanced AI to dynamically suppress ambient noises and improves the clarity of speech delivered over digital pathways.
NVIDIA RTX Voice reduces unwanted background noise within popular streaming applications such as OBS Studio, Discord, Skype, plus many more. Requires W10 and driver 410.18 or newer.

It is interesting to note that the NVIDIA RTX Voice App works both ways. In other words, the app uses AI to filter out background audio noise not just at the user’s end, but also from the audio of others in the meeting as the user receives it. This means other members in the meeting need not install the NVIDIA RTX Voice App for better clarity of voice at the user’s end. However, it appears if the other members wish to have better clarity for themselves, they will have to install the app.
How Does NVIDIA RTX Voice App Work?
The NVIDIA RTX Voice App is an AI-based noise-cancellation tool that uses the Tensor cores present in GeForce RTX graphics cards. The app claims to cancels out background noise, ambient noise, keyboard typing and more, giving whoever is listening, a nice clean signal. As mentioned above, the app not just cleans up the user’s voice signal, but also incoming signals before passing the AI-processed audio on to the user’s headphones or speakers.
The NVIDIA RTX Voice app is quite dynamic and does all the audio signal processing on the fly. In other words, there is no perceptible delay between video and audio signals. This allows users to “go live” or join a meeting without having to worry about unwanted sounds. It is important to note that to use RTX Voice, users must have an NVIDIA GeForce or Quadro RTX graphics card, updated NVIDIA Drivers to version 410.18 or newer, and be on Windows 10.
