A New iPad at the Next Apple Event? Reports Suggest A New Model Being Registered With EEC

The last iPad came out a while back. The iPad Pro series came out by the end of 2018. Thus, we know for sure that a refresh is upon us. We saw a couple of rumours regarding an upcoming model to replace the older ones at the March events from Apple. Sadly though, we saw Apple bringing the event to a complete digital presence due to the COVID-19 protocols.

According to an article from WCCFTECH, the site covers a hint from AppleInsider. The tipster claims that a new model of the iPad was listed at the EEC: Eurasian Economic Commission. As per rules and regulations, every piece of technology, be it a phone or a tablet must be registered at this regulatory body. The image below shows the details of the model that was added.

As shown, the device is named model number A2229 which shows it is a tablet device from Apple. It also tells us that the device would be running iOS 13.

What can it be?

Now, the question arises though, would this be a refresher for the budget iPad model or would it be a new addition to the iPad Pro lineup. Though, both the models are due for a refresher, Apple would obviously be quite tactful with its releases. There is a chance that this would be the budget model. This is because the iPad Pros are now of more significance and usually require a separate event. That too includes the fact that the article states they may see Apple introduce 5G enabled iPad Pros. Then, a late 2020 launch would totally make sense as they would wait for the iPhone event and then bring in the iPad with 5G support. But then, these are all based on assumptions. We would know for sure when Apple formally announces the product.
