How to Loop or Repeatedly Play a Video using VLC Player?

VLC is one of the most used media players for supporting all kinds of formats. It is a necessary media player for everyone to have in the operating system. It comes with many different kinds of features to optimize the videos in the media player. One of the features that we are going to talk about in this article is repeatedly playing the videos in VLC. We will teach different ways for the loop feature of the VLC media player.

Just like most media players, VLC also has a loop feature available. The loop button can be easily found with the other media control buttons in the VLC. By default the loop button will be toggled off, a user needs to click on it to enable it. It provides the option to loop a single video file or all the video files in the playlist of VLC. Follow the below steps to try it:

  1. Double-click on the VLC shortcut or search VLC in the Windows search feature to open the VLC media player.
  2. Click on the File and choose the Open option. Now you can select a single file or add multiple files to the playlist of VLC media player.
    Note: You can also drag and drop the video file directly into the VLC media player.

  3. Move mouse over the loop button at the bottom and click on it. Clicking it once will toggle the Loop button for all the playlist and clicking it twice will toggle the loop button for only single video/audio.
  4. Now the video will play repeatedly in the VLC media player.

Loop or Repeatedly Play Part of Video in VLC

In this method, we will be using the A-B repeat feature of VLC, which is good in repeatedly playing the part of the video. This is a bit different from the default loop option of VLC. This feature will require the initial and final point of the track to repeat that part repeatedly. Because of this, it is known as an A-B, which means from point A to point B. The buttons for this method won’t be enabled by default, so the user need to enable them from the view menu. Follow the below steps to try the A-B repeat feature of VLC:

  1. Open the VLC media player by double-clicking the shortcut or searching it through the Windows search feature.
  2. Now here you can open a single file or multiple files by clicking on the File menu and choosing the Open option in the list.

  3. Click on the View menu in the menu bar and choose the Advanced Controls option. This will enable some extra buttons over your media control buttons.

  4. Pause the video, click on the starting point in the track and then click on the A-B button. Now click on the final destination of the track and click again on the A-B button.

  5. Now you will be able to watch the part of the video in a loop on the VLC media player.
