Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the Highest-Rated Yakuza Game Ever, With Review Scores Hitting 90 on Metacritic

Yakuza’s long-running franchise will see a major entrant later this month as ‘Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’ releases on January 26th. The embargo has been lifted and reviews for the game are already pouring in. Initially, the scores seem to be majorly positive, going as far as to dub it the “greatest Yakuza game of all time.

Since 2015, after Yakuza 0 introduced the franchise to a lot of new audiences, RGG hasn’t gotten it wrong. In fact, the original Like a Dragon (2020) was a huge hit with a score of 84 on Metacritic. Yakuza 0 sat in a similar territory with 85, but Infinite Wealth has well surpassed the 90 barrier, currently sitting at the #19 spot among all the best-rated games out there.

The game, as mentioned, is the first title in the entire franchise (including spin-offs and remasters) to cross the Metascore mark of 90 or more. While Metascores seem to drop as more reviews continue to pour in, the general idea is that it will possibly improve. After all, most of the reviews at the time of this writing come from the PS5 version of the game. Out of 99 reviews, 70 are from PS5, 14 from Xbox Series X, and 15 from PC.
