iPhone 15 Boxes Have Secret Stickers That Shine Under UV Light

It’s only been a day since the iPhone 15 (& 15 Pros) have released and a ton of reviews have started coming in pointing out all sorts of interesting quirks with Apple’s latest toy. Even from the first impressions, users reported noticing titanium discolorations when using their brand-new iPhone 15. And to add to that, we have another discovery.

Counterfeits are everywhere and iPhones aren’t safe from this either. In fact, due to its immense popularity, iPhone replicas are so common that there’s a solid chance the average person wouldn’t even notice if they were being sold a fake.

To somewhat combat this grave issue, Apple has seemingly come up with a pretty interesting idea, as pointed out by Majin Bu who posted this short clip on X:

As you can see in the video above, Apple has added some special stickers/badges on the back of the iPhone 15 box that are only visible under ultraviolet (UV) light. This means that the naked eye won’t be able to spot these new security systems, unlike traditional holographic stickers.

Although this is quite a small detail, it can easily help buyers distinguish genuine iPhone 15 boxes from fake ones. Apple hasn’t mentioned anything about this secret feature. However, we can expect that this tweet will eventually reach the wrong hands, leading to scammers adopting such measures as well.

Till then, Apple users can take advantage of this and ensure that whatever iPhone they are getting their hands on isn’t a fake or refurbished phone with a replica box. It would be kind of weird to keep a UV light on you, or ask your dealer to shine one on the box but, hey, that’s the price for authenticity. On top of the $1000 for the phone itself, of course.
