How to Fix Discord Member List Not Showing Issue?

When Discord users find their member list failing to load, they usually see a blank sidebar in place of user profiles. This error signals an inability to load or display member data because of issues on the client-side. Typically, network issues, outdated client versions, or user setting conflicts lead to this problem.

Additionally, if not set properly to showcase member details for all ranks, permission settings on the server might prevent the list from populating properly.

Ongoing updates or server outages at Discord’s end might temporarily affect this feature as well.

In this article, we will discuss how to correct this issue.

1. Check Internet and Server Status

You can check the server status on Discord’s official website here. To check your internet speed, try Fast or Speedtest. If the speed appears slow, try to reboot your router/modem or reach out to your internet service provider.

2. Disable VPN or Proxy

If you’re using a VPN or a proxy, it might lead to problems when using Discord. A VPN can disrupt the connection, resulting in the member list not loading. Disabling VPN should establish a reliable internet connection and possibly resolve the issue.

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Network & Internet > VPN.
  3. Disconnect any active VPN connections.

3. Restart Discord

A graphical glitch in Discord’s client can lead to the member list failing to load fully, resulting in a blank sidebar. You can restart the Discord app to determine if it’s a temporary bug or not.

For a quick restart, press CTRL + R. Otherwise, you can forcefully restart Discord using the Task Manager.

  1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to open Task Manager.
  2. Find any processes linked to ‘Discord‘.
  3. Right-click on it and press End task.
  4. Reopen Discord.

4. Clear Cache

Corrupted cache files can cause programs to malfunction, resulting in errors. Therefore, removing cache files is beneficial as it resets the application, thereby enhancing your user experience.

4.1 For PC

  1. Press Windows + R, type ‘%appdata%/discord‘, and hit Enter.
  2. Right-click on the Cache folder and delete it.

4.2 For Mobile

  1. Long-press the Discord icon and tap the App Info icon.
  2. Go to Storage.
  3. Tap on Clear Cache.

5. Reinstall Discord

If none of the above solutions work, you may need to reinstall the Discord app. This will remove all problematic files and install a new, clean version of the Discord app.

6.1 On PC

  1. Search for ‘Add or Remove programs‘ in the search bar and open it.
  2. Scan for Discord and click on the Uninstall button.
  3. Visit their official website to download it again.

6.2 For Mobile

  1. Long-press the Discord icon and click on the Uninstall button.
  2. Click on the confirmation button marked OK.
  3. Open the Play Store or App Store to reinstall it.
