Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has Crossed the $1 Billion Sales Figure in Just 10 Days

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was released on October 28th and has been topping the charts since then, claiming the title of the biggest entertainment opening of the year. Leaving Hollywood releases behind as well as all the previous Call of Duty games.

Well, if becoming the biggest Call of Duty launch ever wasn’t enough for MW2. I am happy to report that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has crossed a $1 Billion sell-through in just 10 days after its release.

Not only that, Activision has revealed the $1 Billion figure in a press release today but also has acknowledged that player engagement continues to soar as Modern Warfare II players already have played more than 200 million hours and over 1 billion matches across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms in the first 10 days following its release on October 28th.

Activision took this moment to thank the COD Community for their overwhelming support and assured us that there’s more to come with the release of Warzone 2.0 on November 16th.

The studio also appreciated the efforts of the devs and teams who worked hard to make this project a reality.

Our developers, along with our entire Activision Blizzard team, are the backbone of our unwavering commitment to serve our hundreds of millions of players around the world. I am so proud of the extraordinary efforts from our Call of Duty teams and the records they have achieved with Modern Warfare II. Connecting the world through joy, fun, and the thrill of competition is the key to our success. Modern Warfare II has provided this to millions of players faster and with greater satisfaction than ever before,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO Activision Blizzard.

The incredible momentum driving Modern Warfare II is a direct reflection of the energy and passion of the Call of Duty community,” said Johanna Faries, General Manager, Call of Duty.

As we look ahead to an unprecedented level of support for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0’s launch next week, we are motivated to deliver again for the best player community in the world.”

Still, it’s not over for the COD fans as, according to the rumors, Activision will officially reveal Warzone 2.0 and DMZ mode in an event next week. It was also reported previously that a ton of year 2 content is packed in for the fans. So what are your thoughts about this? Let us know in the comment section below.
